The two squared off against each other in the ring in 2017. On that occasion, Mayweather returned from retirement to stop McGregor in the 10^th round after dominating him throughout the bout and the $300 million payday was the final fight of his professional career at Las Vegas’ T-Mobile Arena.

Since then, the 45-year-old has actually competed in several exhibitions even after retiring and Mayweather fancies the idea of fighting McGregor again and he has been holding talks regarding the same.

“We don’t know if it’s going to be an exhibition or a real fight,” the undefeated boxer told the Daily Mail. “I would prefer an exhibition.”

However, just a few hours later, the Irish MMA champion seemed to brush off the idea by posting a picture on Instagram from their previous fight with the caption “#notinterested”.

Despite this, Mayweather even went on to suggest that the Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, home to NFL’s Las Vegas Raiders could end up being a potential venue if the rematch between him and McGregor does take place at some point in time.

He faced YouTube star Logan Paul last year at the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens, Florida and the match ended undecided even though Mayweather clearly held back given the lack of stakes involved in the match.

McGregor, meanwhile, returned to the UFC after the loss against Mayweather, but he has struggled to rediscover the form that led to him becoming the UFC’s first double champion. The Irishman has lost three of his last four UFC fights and is currently recovering from a broken leg he sustained in his loss to Dustin Poirier a year ago.
